Breakfast for Dinner GIVEAWAY — CLOSED

by Lisa on February 26, 2013

~This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to the winner, Melissa (chosen by random.org)! Please e-mail me at thesplatteredapron@gmail.com so I can get the book to you!~

I’ve told you before, if I could eat breakfast dishes for every meal, I probably would. I’ve never gone out to brunch and ordered a lunch item.  I don’t know, I guess breakfast foods are just my thing.  So when I heard that Lindsay and Taylor of Love and Olive Oil were releasing a cookbook dedicated to breakfast for dinner, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy.  Luckily, the good folks at Quirk Books sent me a copy. In fact, they sent me two copies—one for me and one for you!

I read through the book as soon as it arrived and had a hard time deciding on the first recipe to make.  I mean, with recipes like Greek Baked Eggs, Cornmeal Pancakes with Beer Braised Short Ribs, Maple-Glazed Pork Meatballs, Parmesan Beignets, Bacon Jam, Granola Cookies, Blood Orange Mimosa Sorbet and Doughnut Fudge Sundaes, it was hard to know where to start.

On top of the recipes, Lindsay’s photography is gorgeous.  It makes me hungry just looking at the pictures—a sure sign of a good cookbook, right?

The first recipe I made was a huge success.  It made enough to feed all three of us for a meal, plus a few leftover portions for lunch and was gone within three days.  That’s how much we liked the Bacon Fried Rice.

What to win your own copy? I’m going to make this really easy….

Leave a comment and tell me your favorite breakfast food for dinner.

That’s it! Entries will close at midnight on Thursday, February 28. Good luck!

I received a copy of Breakfast for Dinner from Quirk Books, but was not otherwise compensated. All opinions are my own.

I never made it for breakfast but i guess it could be. A Fritatta. I’ve only ever made it for dinner! i forget what i put in it. I know there were potatoes and tomatoes. Definitely more veggies but i just threw whatever was in the fridge into it.

hi lisa! i’m pretty sure i could eat breakfast for every meal. we have breakfast for dinner at least once a week. my 14 month old loves all breakfast foods (especially breakfast meats) so it’s a win-win for everyone. my favorite breakfast for dinner meal is an omelette with whatever vegetables/leftovers we have in the fridge. if i have cinnamon raisin bread in the freezer, i will sometimes make french toast, but we always have eggs and veggies, so we eat omelettes more often.

I live pancakes for dinner! Easy to make, sweet or savory, and leftovers for breakfast the next day!

I don’t even want to talk about how often I have a giant bowl of bran flakes, muesli and blueberries for dinner. Oh and if I’ve been organised enough to buy almond milk to pour on top… heaven!

(But, on the same topsy-turvy note… dinner leftovers for breakfast? ALSO YES).

I love grits for dinner! They are so versatile. You can make them savory or sweet and grits are great next to any protein. Yum!

It is funny because when it comes to brunch i almost always lean towards lunch. I just cant get behind paying for eggs, bacon and toast when i can make it better:) Standard breakfast can bore me however these recipes are FAR from boring and look excellent!!

Favorite breakfast of choice: Poached eggs for savory, and 1 pancake for sweet:)

Pancakes and eggs. I eat breakfast food at any time of the day but it depends if I’m feeling sweet or savory. Eggs and protein pancakes always win! Well, one or the other, not both at the same time haha
