It is safe to say that after this weekend, the holidays have officially arrived in our house! Throughout last week Jeromy and I took down our autumn/Thanksgiving decorations and replaced them with our Christmas decorations. Somehow, in this house it feels like we need even more than we have—and we have a lot of decorations! I don’t know if I’ll be able to stop myself from buying more, but I will try very hard to resist.
Saturday we bundled up the baby and headed west to cut down our Christmas tree. This is the third year in a row we’ve gone to this particular farm and we look forward to it all year—it is just a gorgeous place.
We spent about 20 minutes wandering through the trees before we found the perfect tree for Caroline’s first Christmas and our first Christmas in our house.
Caroline’s first Christmas tree! She was pumped. Obviously.
After pictures, Caroline and I cheered for Jeromy as he chopped down our tree. Once again, man conquers nature.
While we were waiting for our friends and their trees, Caroline tried on Daddy’s sunglasses. This poor child is never going to forgive me for pictures like this!
Jeromy put the tree up as soon as we got home—I love the smell of a fresh Christmas tree in the house! Today, Caroline and I hosted a small cookie swap.
Last year’s cookie swap was a lot of fun, but it was HUGE and I just couldn’t take that on again this year. This year, I just barely prepared some food to serve along with the cookies as people were arriving! That’s what an almost 4-month-old will do to your day {and I love her for it}.
Even though it was small, it was a lot of fun and the cookies are delicious! I may or may not have sampled all of them. I can neither confirm nor deny.
For the swap, I made fudge cookies.
They’re not much to look at but they are delicious, quick and easy with only five ingredients. I’ll share the recipe tomorrow!
How did you kick off the holiday season this weekend?
